AP Macro Group Project: Bitcoin

Your research paper about Bitcoin will have four parts:
1. Introduction / Overview
You will describe what’s Bitcoin all about. Provide as much detail as possible. How does it work? Who much of it is out there? How do they make more Bitcoins? What’s the price relative to dollars? To other currencies? Where is most popular? Is it becoming more popular? And as many more questions as you can think of.

2. Is Bitcoin money?
We discussed three functions of money: store of value; medium of exchange; unit of account. Does Bitcoin fill all these function? Your answer should be more of a yes and no. In what way does it and in what ways it might not? Discuss some of the volatility of its value throughout its history. (Sources are important here)

3. Bitcoin supply
Talk about supply and demand of Bitcoin. Who decides how much supply? Who makes laws concerning Bitcoin? What are some if any of the laws?

4. Predictions for the future
The first three parts you will distribute between the three people in your group. This part you will work on collaboratively. What is the future of Bitcoin? Discuss some of the expert opinions on the issue and include your own. Base your opinion on something in your research.

Typed report. Minimum 4 pages excluding charts, pictures. Sources in footnotes.

By Monday you should be done with all research for your individual section and you should have a draft of your section in class by Monday. I will give you Monday to discuss part 4 of the project; however, you should have your research prepared for that part.
