We believe in maintaining open lines of communication between the school, students, and parents:

Our Educational Philosophy

At Sinai Academy, we firmly believe that:

Rigor + Relationship = Success

Our educational approach is centered on the student, recognizing that each young man has unique talents and needs. While we place great importance on career and college readiness, our ultimate goal is to create lifelong learners and active members of society who contribute positively to the world based on timeless Jewish values.
We strive to provide a rigorous academic environment coupled with strong, supportive relationships between students, teachers, and staff. This combination, we believe, is the key to unlocking each student’s potential for success.
At Sinai Academy, we’re not just a school – we’re a family dedicated to nurturing the minds, hearts, and souls of the next generation of Jewish leaders.

History

Founded in 1987, Sinai Academy is one of the oldest private institutions of learning serving the Russian-American Jewish community in the United States. Founded by Rabbi Aryeh (Lev) Katzin, the high school instantly gained a reputation for academic excellence as well as leadership and innovation in the field of education. Even in those early days, some of Sinai’s students went on to such prestigious schools as Harvard, MIT, Yale, etc.
Prior to Sinai, Rabbi Katzin was active in the Moscow Jewish Underground teaching Torah and Hebrew to Jews in Moscow despite ongoing KGB surveillance. From the USSR, he emigrated to Israel and then to America, where he continued to expand his activities for the benefit of the Russian Jewish community.
Over the years, Sinai has evolved. What began as a school for new Russian immigrants has become a school for Jewish boys from all types of backgrounds; the mission, however, has remained the same – to plant seeds of academic, moral, and social success in the still fresh and productive minds of young men.

Middle School

At Sinai Academy Middle School, we recognize that grades 6-8 represent a crucial transition period in a young man’s life. In middle school, students begin to grasp more abstract concepts , eg, Algebraic concepts in mathematics, figurative language in ELA, overarching ideas in Social studies, etc. At this stage, it is essential to support students at all levels, ensuring that those who need extra help receive it, while challenging our high achievers to reach their full potential.
Sinai middle school provides a supportive environment that nurtures our students’ intellectual and emotional growth. We gradually foster independence by slowly “taking off the training wheels,” encouraging students to take ownership of their learning and personal development. Our student-centered approach, combined with open communication with parents, creates a nurturing atmosphere where boys can navigate the complexities of middle school years with confidence and emerge prepared for the rigors of high school.

High School

Sinai Academy High School is where young men truly come into their own. These formative years are a time when maturity begins to sprout and flourish. Sinai Academy high school cultivates and challenges students’ growing capacity for abstract thought, preparing them for the complexities of adult life and postsecondary education.
Growth patterns vary from student to student. While we place a strong emphasis on fostering independence, equipping our students with the skills and confidence to take charge of their learning and personal growth, we also understand that each student has a pathway that is optimal for him. We inspire our blossoming young men to reach for the stars, but also develop resilience to overcome challenges and bounce back from setbacks.
Sinai Academy is not a big school, yet we offer a wealth of opportunities. From AP classes, to top-notch college prep, to exciting extra-curricular activities, to academic and social-emotional support when needed, Sinai delivers a huge range of opportunities. Our small school environment and dedicated team of professionals allow for personalized attention and the chance for each student to shine, whether in academics, extracurricular activities, or community service. Here, every young man can find his unique path to success.
