Curriculum Overview

The Academic program at Sinai Academy aims to accomplish two general goals:
1. To improve analytical, critical, and creative thinking of our students
2. To impart an enriched and expanded High School curriculum in an engaging and relevant way.
This means that our courses in General Studies and Judaic Studies are given in a way that not only teaches the student the necessary material but inspires them to stretch their abilities and to further develop their talents.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the High School experience is laying the groundwork for the student on his way to a quality college. In our competitive world, great colleges and universities are ever-more selective. Admission to a top university does not only depend on grades and SAT scores but on the total portfolio of the student including extra-curricular activities, community service, as well as many other abilities and personality traits.
A great High school experience is much more than just what one learns in textbooks. Sinai Academy places a strong emphasis upon developing the personal character qualities and abilities needed to succeed in the real world. These include confidence, proper work ethic, integrity, organizational skills and leadership abilities.

Academics | Middle School

At Sinai Academy Middle School, we recognize that grades 6-8 represent a crucial transition period in a young man’s life. In middle school, students begin to grasp more abstract concepts , eg, Algebraic concepts in mathematics, figurative language in ELA, overarching ideas in Social studies, etc. At this stage, it is essential to support students at all levels, ensuring that those who need extra help receive it, while challenging our high achievers to reach their full potential.
Sinai middle school provides a supportive environment that nurtures our students’ intellectual and emotional growth. We gradually foster independence by slowly “taking off the training wheels,” encouraging students to take ownership of their learning and personal development. Our student-centered approach, combined with open communication with parents, creates a nurturing atmosphere where boys can navigate the complexities of middle school years with confidence and emerge prepared for the rigors of high school.
Sinai Academy program for middle school is largely based on the New York State curriculum. In the spring, our students take the state tests in ELA and Mathematics. The implementation of the curriculum is where Sinai’s unique blend of “challenge”, “inspire”, and “support” shines through.

Academics | High School

Sinai Academy High School is where young men truly come into their own. These formative years are a time when maturity begins to sprout and flourish. Sinai Academy high school cultivates and challenges students’ growing capacity for abstract thought, preparing them for the complexities of adult life and postsecondary education.
Growth patterns vary from student to student. While we place a strong emphasis on fostering independence, equipping our students with the skills and confidence to take charge of their learning and personal growth, we also understand that each student has a pathway that is optimal for him. We inspire our blossoming young men to reach for the stars, but also develop resilience to overcome challenges and bounce back from setbacks.
Sinai Academy is not a big school, yet we offer a wealth of opportunities. From AP classes, to top-notch college prep, to exciting extra-curricular activities, to academic and social-emotional support when needed, Sinai delivers a huge range of opportunities. Our small school environment and dedicated team of professionals allow for personalized attention and the chance for each student to shine, whether in academics, extracurricular activities, or community service. Here, every young man can find his unique path to success.
The path to graduation can vary from student to student. A diploma is earned when a student accrues the requisite amount of high school credits as explained in the ‘Student and Parent Handbook’.

Four Years of High School

Each of the four years of high school serves its own purpose in a student’s academic career.
Ninth grade students adjust to the rigor of high school level courses. They also generally take two classes in English Language Arts: English Literature and English Composition. Improving their reading and writing skills will help them succeed in advanced placement courses in the following years.
Tenth grade students have the opportunity to take AP classes, which can potentially earn them college credits. Students that need academic support use the additional time to work with their SETTS providers to stay on top of their school work.
Eleventh grade is a central year of high school. This is the year when students develop their college potential. Students in 11th grade generally take the PSAT in the Fall and their 1st SAT in the Spring.
Twelfth grade students direct a large part of their efforts to the college application process and prepare for the post high school plans.

Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities for both middle and high school vary from year to year depending on student interest. Usually activities are in the following areas: Technology, Arts, Business and Finance, Athletics. In the beginning of each school year, students sign up for the club of their choice or conference with the principal about starting a new one.

NEW: Creativity Lab

Fall of 2024 is the opening of the new Creativity Lab – a dedicated space to explore students’ interests and talents in creative fields such as photography, 3D printing, robotics, product customization.

College Guidance

At Sinai Academy, we take pride in preparing our students for success beyond our walls. Our alumni went on to a wide range of prestigious institutions, including Harvard, Yale, and MIT.
Our approach to college guidance is highly individualized. We work closely with both parents and students to create a tailored plan that aligns with each student’s unique aspirations and strengths. For those aiming for highly competitive schools, we develop detailed college admissions strategies to maximize their chances of success.
Students generally take the College Board exams, such as PSAT, SAT, and AP exams. Students also develop their “standout” factor via multiple extracurricular activities.
We strongly encourage college visits to help students make informed decisions about their future academic paths.
Recognizing the diverse paths our graduates may take, we also support those students who choose to study in Israel for their first year of college, helping them navigate this unique educational experience.
Our goal is to guide each Sinai Academy student towards the college experience that best suits their individual needs, interests, and career aspirations.
