Eureka Math Competition

eureka-header-2013The Eureka Mathematics Competition is an annual event organized by Sinai Academy and open to all students. The Eureka Competition is an opportunity to test your math skills, have fun, and a chance to win some great prizes!

The competition is divided into two levels: A & B. Level A is open to any 7th or 8th grader and any interested students from lower grades. Level B is intended for students in 9th and 10th grades.

EUREKA 2013

DATE: Sunday May 19, 2013
START TIME: Breakfast – 9 AM; Competition – 10 AM
END TIME: 12 PM
LOCATION: Sinai Academy HS – 2025 79th Street (between 20th and 21st Avenues), Brooklyn, NY.

FORMAT

There are 10 questions in all – 3 warm up problems and 7 more challenging problems.

MATHEMATICAL CONTENT

Although some of the questions presuppose that a participant is astride with the New York State math standards, most questions are logic / solution based.

PREPARATION

Competition math is slightly different than curriculum math. Finding solutions to competition math problems comes with experience in cracking such and similar problems. There is a plethora of competition math problems on all sorts of levels available online.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration is open until 12 PM Friday May 17th. New and returning participants should fill out the registration form.
